On the death of Havelock Cay, Senate and Faculty decide that Registrar's Office should
be located on campus and that preference for the position of Registrar be given to a graduate of
the University. One senator remarked that " it might appear strange to have our degrees signed
by a man without a degree" (in 31 Mar 1930 Minutes, p 32).
Senate hears Committee report on 14 May 1930 that Registrar will be responsible for collecting
fees, taking Minutes (University Secretary), tracking property and rents, accounts payable and
receivable, students' records, and general supervision of grounds, properties, and buildings.
Salary to be $2,000, and Joseph W. Sears is appointed Registrar. (SM 5 (14 May 1930), 34, 38)
