Note
New Brunswick House of Assembly passes legislation to revive the title "President" after
39 years absence. The title "Chancellor" was used previously, after a change in approximately
1892. Rev. James Somerville was the first president of the College of New Brunswick (1820),
which later became King's College and then UNB.
